Diederik van Renesse
Senior Partner
Diederik started his career in the 1970s as a teacher at the Rumsey Hall School. From there he became director of admissions at Miss Hall’s School and later, director of admissions and college counselling at the Darrow School. He joined Steinbrecher as a senior partner in 1994, and continues to advise national and international families about private day and boarding schools, and college placement. He works with students who excel academically and are applying to top schools, as well as students who need more support.
A trailblazer in the area of residential treatment schools, wilderness programs, and therapeutic boarding schools, Diederik is widely respected for his work placing children in crisis in programs that provide a positive environment to learn and thrive. He treats every child and family with compassion and respect, and clients regularly remark on his calming presence.
Diederik is a graduate of Lafayette College. He is a member of several professional organizations, including NATSAP, SSATB, and NACAC.
