Therapeutic
Maybe your child is struggling to succeed in their mainstream environment. It can be from mental health issues, learning challenges, substance use or some combination of these issues. If this sounds familiar, we want you to know that you’re not alone and that we can help. We have more than 20 years of experience successfully guiding children and their parents though crisis situations.
There is hope
With long-standing relationships with programs at many reputable treatment facilities and therapeutic boarding schools, both nationally and internationally, we can get your child into the proper school immediately, and we will continuously follow up with the school to ensure that your child is in the appropriate program and working with the right therapists.
No matter how overwhelming things may seem right now, know there is hope. We will help guide your child through this challenging time and partner with your family to offer support and counsel.
What to Expect
-
We will do an intake call with the family to get a firm grasp on the student’s situation and background. From there, the family will usually connect us with the child’s doctors and therapists, to discuss any testing/psychological evaluations and gain clinical insight.
-
If a student is really struggling, we might recommend a short-term residential hospital or wilderness program to help stabilize and assess the student—and manage their medication if necessary. This phase can last from 30 days to 4 months, depending on the severity of the situation. Sometimes the family brings their child to this program; if that’s not an option, we can facilitate an outside company to provide a therapeutic transport for the student. Once the child is placed in a program, we act as the liaison between the “home” treatment team (family and family doctors) and the new treatment team to advocate for the family, conduct weekly calls and ensure the student is receiving the best care.
-
After a short-term intervention service, most students move on to a residential treatment center (a clinical program that provides both treatment and education, lasting for 6 to 9 months) or therapeutic boarding school, which has a clinical component but is more academic and usually lasts nine months to 18 months. From there, we help transition the student back home, and supervise their enrollment into their local public school, or a traditional private day or boarding school. If the student has completed high school, we can assist with the college application process or transitional young adult services.
