Eliza Brown
College Counselor
Applying to US schools as an American citizen can be daunting, so imagine how complicated the process can be for foreign students! As an American who has lived abroad for nearly 30 years, Eliza Brown specializes in placing Spanish and Latin American students in US schools.
Eliza grew up in New York City and attended The Brearley School and Milton Academy. After graduating from Connecticut College with a degree in English literature, Eliza moved to Madrid to teach English. She was named Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Canary Islands in 2006 and spent seven years there before returning to Madrid. She then began to work as a consultant for companies like Google and Apple, helping foreign employees fine-tune their English for meetings and presentations.
When her own children were students at the Lycée Français in Madrid, Eliza noticed how few services were available to Spanish students interested in attending college in the United States. She joined Steinbrecher to help familiarize Spanish and Latin American families with the US college application process. Eliza translates transcripts, recommends SAT tutors, provides essay writing guidance, helps create a balanced list of schools, and maps out school visit itineraries. On the flip side, she also advises American students looking to attend school in Spain.
